Overland Park emergency crews responded to a crash on US 69 near 135th Street Tuesday where a car and an overturned dump truck spilled diesel fuel—delaying scene clearance—with no one seriously injured.

Many Kansas school districts return to school today while Blue Valley teachers welcome students — the Chiefs wrap up training camp in St. Joseph as they prepare for their next game.
Shawnee Mission School District superintendent outlined new safety measures for the school year, including an updated cell phone policy—designed to help teachers enforce the rules and protect students as classes resume.
The changes will be implemented as students settle into the school term.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks issued a public advisory for Kansas lakes because of blue-green algae—people are urged to avoid water contact and keep pets away when signs of algae such as foam appear.
