- ➤ On Thursday morning, firefighters responded to a house fire at a home on 82nd and Hadley streets in Overland Park when a dog bumped the burners while trying to get treats, igniting a blaze that led to the rescue of four dogs and two rabbits but resulted in one dog dying and left the family unable to return home as the Red Cross launched its assistance. - ➤ Leawood homeowners reported that their new driveways crumbled after just a few months and FOX4 Problem Solvers uncovered that a new Portland 1L cement mix may be the cause—Bill Keith and other residents urge builders to take responsibility and warn that filing a complaint with the BBB might be necessary if proper repairs are not made. - ➤ Armyworms are eating lawns across the metro, with residents in Olathe, Overland Park, Gardner & Lee's Summit noticing brown patches. Experts advise testing lawns with dish soap and water and contacting professionals quickly to reduce further damage. FOX 4 KC
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Leawood officials sent a statement on July 25 saying that if the Royals pick the Aspiria site—located in Leawood despite appearing near Overland Park—they will work with the community while addressing concerns about added traffic from 20 to 30 thousand daily visitors for 81 games. Representative Tarwater warned that such congestion would require major infrastructure improvements and noted that no final decision has been made. FOX 4 KC
