COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Overland Park Christian Church closed its kitchen months ago because of fire safety issues and now needs help to renovate the space for community meals—Tiny Pantry Times will host a free fundraiser on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. where donations and raffle proceeds will support the repairs.  KSHB

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire on Tuesday night displaced five residents and three pets from an Overland Park apartment building, though no injuries occurred; firefighters from Overland Park and Leawood arrived just before 7 p.m. to knock down the flames—rescuing two dogs and a cat—and investigators are checking the cause.  KMBC News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Kansas man from Mission Hills, Peter E. Goss, who drove the wrong way on a Missouri highway in 2024 and fatally collided with a Lee’s Summit driver, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and wrong-way driving as a warrant was issued on Tuesday—he is not yet in custody and his court appearance is pending.  KCTV 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Transportation officials said federal approval on June 24th lets them move the K-10 Corridor Capacity Improvements Project to the design stage on a 16.5-mile stretch from the Douglas/Johnson County line to I-435 (covering parts of De Soto, Lenexa and Olathe) while construction funds remain unsecured.  KCTV 5
