- ➤ Elizabeth Thomas supports veterans by creating handmade quilts that honor their service — she works with local groups and plans more quilting sessions soon. KCTV 5
- ➤ Students from Gardner-Edgerton honored the city's military veterans in a special ceremony that recognized the service of those who served. KCTV 5
- ➤ Air Force veteran Jacob Woodward moved to Kansas City a few months ago and launched a food drive called Uniform to Unity to collect nonperishable food and items for veterans and their families. The drive, partnered with Shelter KC — the Veterans Community Project, will accept donations at local theaters until December 19th. KSHB
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Guy Townsend discussed his new Streetcar podcast — Artful Connections — during an interview with Taylor Johnson. The podcast will share local art stories and creative talks and is set to launch soon. KCTV 5
- ➤ KC Streetcar is looking for local musicians to perform during its Holiday Jam series from Nov. 29 through Dec. 21. Musicians 18 or older will earn $300 for a 60-minute performance and must apply by Nov. 16. FOX 4 KC
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A major solar flare and coronal mass ejection are heading toward Earth and the Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a G4 watch today, which could let northern lights appear low on the northern horizon between 9 p.m. and midnight—solar monitors confirmed the CME's intensity Tuesday and say the lights might show up again Wednesday night.
