A Lenexa nonprofit announced it is sending ten more Hurricane Melissa Disaster Response Team volunteers to Jamaica to help with relief efforts; six members have been in the country since October 31.
The team—which includes a doctor, five nurses, and four operations specialists from several states—will set up a clinic in Cambridge just south of Montego Bay.
Local volunteers helped Kansas City during the Ate 1 Six BBQ event on November 9—organizers said the event provided support to local neighbors.

A new initiative will promote economic mobility in underserved metro neighborhoods by offering job training programs and small business support — officials say the program is set to launch soon to help local residents improve their prospects.
