  • Harvesters warned families that long lines at food pantries are expected due to SNAP delays and a government shutdown. Several mobile food events are planned across the Kansas City area—one in Overland Park is scheduled today from noon to 1 p.m. for those seeking help.  FOX 4 KC
  • Local residents rallied on November 7 to support a food pantry after it was vandalized—organizers collected donations and volunteers to help restore its services.  KCTV 5

  • A Kansas City company that distributes Missouri-grown catnip for feline friends was named one of the region’s top small businesses and dubbed a 2026 Superstar—marking its rising success.  KCTV 5

CULTURE NEWS

  • Morton Amphitheater—formerly Riverside Amphitheater—announced its first round of summer 2026 concerts featuring Rod Stewart on Aug. 15, 5 Seconds of Summer on Aug. 20, and Jack Johnson on Sept. 1. Tickets for presales begin Monday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. and general sales start Friday, Nov. 14.  FOX 4 KC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Overland Park are told to plan ahead as southbound U.S. 69 will close nightly from Monday — officials advise choosing alternate routes to prevent delays.  KCTV 5
  • A metro childcare center in Overland Park supported families affected by the government shutdown by offering extra help — the center stepped in to provide relief amid reduced federal services.  KCTV 5
  • The Kansas Department for Children and Families announced that families using SNAP received their full benefits Friday—over $31.6 million was distributed to about 86,000 households after a government shutdown stalled payments. A federal judge had ordered full November funding, and families checked their benefits using the number on the back of their EBT card.  KMBC News

  • Some renters at the iStorage facility on 135th Street and Quivira Road are frustrated by a mold issue that forces a temporary closure from Nov. 9 to 13— they must sign a liability waiver to access their belongings and the facility will reopen on Nov. 14.  KMBC News
