  • Overland Park was named the second safest city in America by WalletHub, which based its ranking on safe roads — and financial safety. The report shows the city has the fifth-lowest pedestrian fatality rate and the 15th-lowest traffic fatality rate among the cities analyzed.  KCTV 5

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Boulevard Brewing Co. announced its new Berry Jane Quirk THC Seltzer, a hemp-derived beverage with a crisp berry taste in 5mg and 10mg options that will be sold in four-packs starting in November at participating retailers in Missouri and Kansas—while the brewery will also bring back its Nitro Dry Stout this fall after more than 10 years off the shelves.  FOX 4 KC
  • Monday's major AWS outage left local KC metro businesses with suspended online orders, affecting Pegah’s Restaurant and Fifth & Emery—owners reported lost revenue and are working on plans to make up the deficit as they wait for systems to be restored.  FOX 4 KC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, Prairie Village public works crews inspected trucks, plows, and spreaders and drove assigned snow routes to prepare for winter weather. The 16 plow operators—backed by a mechanic and snow boss on each shift—will use salt and respond once there is an inch of snow.  KSHB
  • Farm operator Shawn Lagemann at Walnut Pond Agricultural Discovery Center opposes Lenexa’s new development plan and code requirements, arguing that fresh rules hurt local agriculture. She has invested over $250,000 in improvements since 2022 and will seek legal advice as city officials say the measures are needed for public safety—further discussions with legislators are planned.  KSHB
