- ➤ KCTV5 will relight its historic tower with 96 state-of-the-art LED lights at a special illumination ceremony on Sept. 18, 2025—this event will update the tower for modern use while honoring its past. KCTV 5
- ➤ Today, several 9/11 memorial events honor the victims in the Kansas City area; in Overland Park, the Fire and Police Honor Guards hold a ceremony at the Fire Training Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and KU ROTC begins a memorial run at David Booth Memorial Stadium at 5:15 a.m.—other events in Wyandotte County, Terrace Park and Lawrence also remember the attack. - ➤ Metro volunteers rebuilt the Veteran's Community Project Memorial Garden when a Disabled American Veteran donor described the help as breathtaking. The project honored local veterans and created a new tribute in the community. KCTV 5

- ➤ The Wyandot Nation sisters fought against developers to protect a sacred burial ground that is important to their community. Their stand highlights efforts to preserve Native American heritage as America nears its 250th birthday. KCTV 5
- ➤ A new locally written musical Stuff of Dreams will have its world premiere this weekend at the White Theater in Overland Park — created by local friends with 70 years of theater experience. The show tells the story of a struggling community theater that secures rights to a Broadway hit, features 19 local cast members, and will run from September 13 to 21. KMBC News

- ➤ Kansas will host its Weekend Virtual Statewide Job Fair from 8 a.m. Friday, September 26 until 5 p.m. Sunday, where job seekers can fill out applications and interview online (registration is required). The IRS will hold a direct hiring event for over 220 vacancies on September 15 and 16 at the Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City at Briarcliff (accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities). - ➤ Today, metro communities will hold 9/11 memorial ceremonies including a morning remembrance at the Nine Over Memorial and a stair climb at 5:00 to honor the fallen — Missouri lawmakers will deliberate redistricting proposals with a committee meeting at 10:00 and a potential vote set for tomorrow. - ➤ The Chiefs lost 27-21 in Week 1 to the Chargers during their Brazil debut; Travis Kelce said he took responsibility after colliding with wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who likely hurt his shoulder and did not return.
