- ➤ Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach filed a federal suit on Sept 8 to force Governor Kelly’s administration and the Department of Children and Families to send personal data of 730K SNAP applicants to the USDA — state law requires sharing the data — as disputes continue over the management of the SNAP program. - ➤ A recent report shows that more families are choosing cats because they cost less to care for while dog ownership has dropped by 3% nationwide. Ashley Flores from Great Plains SPCA in Merriam said her shelter has seen more cat adoptions since 2019—making cost a key factor in pet choices. KSHB

- ➤ Details were released Monday for a 9.64-acre mixed-use development at the southwest corner of W. 115th Street and Nall Avenue in Overland Park that is built around a 100,000-square-foot, four-story AC Hotel by Marriott with 126 rooms, a full-service restaurant and bar, meeting space and wedding suite. The project also includes a 10,000-square-foot retail center and landscaped outdoor areas—featuring a heated pool, waterfall wall, fire pits and seating areas—while construction is underway with completion set for late fall.
