CRIME NEWS

  • Two former Wyandotte County District Court bookkeepers were indicted by a federal grand jury for stealing nearly $900K from the court — prosecutors say they used the clerk's signature on fraudulent checks between January 2018 and February 2023 to cover up the theft.  KMBC News
  • A man charged with murder in an Overland Park traffic crash that killed a 75-year-old woman is back in Johnson County and will appear in court Monday—officials say Isaiah Sadowski, 24, fled the country before being found in Mexico and his bond was set at $15 million.  KSHB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The City of De Soto approved economic development incentives for Limestone, a $225 million mixed-use project planned at the northeast corner of K-10 Highway and Kill Creek Road. GRATA Development said it will break ground in early 2026 and build a hotel, 102 single-family homes, and 350 multifamily apartments with tax abatements — a plan that will add new housing, retail, and hospitality to the area.  FOX 4 KC

  • Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr. hit solo homers that led the Royals to a comeback win on September 5—gaining a half game on idle Seattle in the last American League Wild Card race.  KCTV 5
