  • Kansas tomato crops suffered heavy flooding and high humidity this summer—farmers reported cracked tomatoes and fungal disease that forced discounted sales and temporary shortages for customers. Jacob Thomas of JET Produce and Meats said he has already relied on local growers and plans improvements for his high tunnels next season.  KMBC News

  • Johnson County Management in Overland Park announced that electric bikes and scooters are banned for visitors 17 and under on properties like Ranch Mart Shopping Center—Stanley Square—Nall Valley Shops and the Village Shops at 135th & Antioch. Rising complaints from 18 last year to 88 this year have led neighboring Prairie Village to introduce new safety rules for all riders—emphasizing helmet use and yielding to pedestrians.  FOX 4 KC
