- ➤ Overland Park Police Department introduced SEEK THEN SPEAK—an online tool that lets sexual assault survivors 13 and older privately record their experiences and download a PDF of their report—on Aug 22 to offer a safer way to prepare for contacting police. KMBC News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kansas officials announced a $10 million Blueprint for Literacy program that will use Phillips Fundamental Learning Center—structured teaching methods to help children overcome dyslexia and improve reading skills. Cindy Lane from the Kansas Board of Regents said the program will train educators and guide school districts to raise literacy statewide. KCTV 5

- ➤ Overland Park Police introduced Seek Then Speak — a tool that lets sexual assault survivors write down details of their assault and choose if they want to report it. Developed by End Violence Against Women International, the program is for anyone 13 and older and lets users save their notes as PDFs for later review by law enforcement. KMBC News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Kansas Department of Health and Environment declared the measles outbreak over as of Thursday—after 42 days with no new cases—and reported 90 cases since January 1, with most patients being children and eight people hospitalized.
