- ➤ Glenwood Arts Theatre in Overland Park will host a film screening tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. to raise funds for the family of late Brookside chef Shaun Brady—shot outside his restaurant less than a year ago. KSHB
- ➤ A local director is hosting a benefit screening of the new film 'The Elders: Alive and Live in Ireland' — a tribute to Irish chef Shaun Brady — tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at Glenwood Theater to honor his family nearly one year after his death outside his Brookside restaurant. FOX 4 KC
- ➤ Overland Park’s Golden Scoop, an ice cream shop that employs people with disabilities, is asking locals to help cover over $40,000 in needed repairs for a crumbling wall behind its store. CEO Amber Schreiber said the shop is working with engineers and contractors for a proper fix—one that will protect customers and neighbors. KMBC News
- ➤ KCTV5 won the 2025 Edward R. Murrow Award for its newscast ‘The Aftermath at Union Station’ that covered the tragic shooting following the Chiefs' championship rally in February 2024, where more than 20 people were shot and one person died. The award will be presented on Oct. 13 at Gotham Hall in New York City—honoring the station’s dedicated service during that difficult time. KCTV 5

- ➤ An overnight fire at the Torreador restaurant caused moderate fire damage and heavy smoke damage while nearby Monstera’s Books also suffered smoke damage as responders from the Overland Park Consolidated Fire District and Lenexa Fire Department worked to disconnect power at 2 a.m. Thursday—no injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. - ➤ Overnight into Thursday morning, the Torreador Mexican Restaurant in Old Overland Park caught fire at 3:30 a.m. — no injuries were reported as crews worked to extinguish the flames while investigators examined the cause. KCTV 5
