- ➤ Deputy Elijah Ming was shot and killed July 26 while responding to a domestic violence call in Kansas City—his casket is now being ushered into Children's Mercy Park for his funeral service. KCTV 5
- ➤ Miranda Ming attended a funeral service at Children's Mercy Park to honor deputy Elijah Ming — 34, who was shot in the line of duty and served nearly nine years with the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Department as Sheriff Daniel Soptic eulogized his dedication. KCTV 5
- ➤ An Olathe man pleaded guilty on Monday to a voluntary manslaughter charge—court proceedings have concluded. KCTV 5

- ➤ Johnson County records showed that Aspiria campus remained under Occidental Management after the owner missed its mortgage payment deadline on Saturday. Occidental Management said that the borrower and lender were working on a go-forward resolution — the campus continues its normal operations. KSHB

- ➤ Overland Park native Leanne Wong won gold on vault and silver on all-around at the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in New Orleans on Aug. 10. She was named to the U.S. Senior National Team and will aim for a spot at the World Championships in Jakarta from Oct. 19-25 — a move that builds on her strong performances on uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise.
