- ➤ A new autism center opened on Tuesday near 87th and Marshall Drive in Overland Park to help adults with autism learn job and social skills. Founder Jay Cross started the nonprofit six months ago after discovering few options for adults once children turn 18 and noted that care can cost families about $250,000 a year while subsidies take 10 years to be approved — a gap he hopes the center will close.
