COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Johnson County Fair is underway at the fairgrounds in Gardner from July 26 through Aug 2 with carnival rides, rodeo events, live music, and free admission. Visitors can enjoy a Saturday parade at 10 a.m., wrestling at 6 p.m. today, and other competitions—tickets range from $1 for rides to $35 for wristbands.  FOX 4 KC

CRIME NEWS

  • On Tuesday morning, officers from the Kansas City Police Department wore black mourning bands over their badges to show solidarity with Wyandotte County Deputy Elijah Ming—killed on July 26 while responding to a call—and Johnson County and Douglas County Sheriff’s Offices also planned similar displays to honor his service.  KCTV 5

  • Kingsley Suamataia discussed his progress since his rookie season and his focus during training camp as he begins his second season with the Chiefs after being drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.  KCTV 5
  • Chiefs coach Andy Reid addressed injuries to Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy and Skyy Moore, who were hurt during practice in St. Joseph—he also confirmed a scuffle broke out among rookies at camp.  KCTV 5
