- ➤ A Kansas woman was sentenced to more than 18 years in prison for selling drugs that led to an overdose, according to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office—court records show that Beulah B. Quiroz admitted selling a controlled substance in February 2024 that resulted in a fatal overdose. KCTV 5
- ➤ A Kansas woman was sentenced in Johnson County court on June 16 to 220 months in prison for distribution causing death in connection with Dori Cunagin’s 2024 death in Overland Park — she pleaded guilty on April 22 — after a history of drug-related offenses. KMBC News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students at Kansas public universities will pay higher tuition beginning in fiscal 2026 after the Kansas Board of Regents approved increases to cover rising costs such as faculty salaries and campus maintenance. The hikes range from a 2.5% rise at Pittsburg State to a 4% increase at Fort Hays + Wichita State and K-State approved 3.5% while KU’s tuition will rise 3% and Emporia State remains unchanged. KCTV 5
