- ➤ On Monday, June 16th, First Sgt. Michael Gainey, a decorated Kansas City veteran with 30 years of service, received service dog Lilly through a partnership between Friends in Service of Heroes — Hy-Vee to help with PTSD. KCTV 5
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ An aircraft crashed near New Century airport just before 1:30 p.m. when a light twin-engine plane hit the roof of a hangar at New Century AirCenter—both people onboard were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. FOX 4
- ➤ On Monday, June 16, a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air 90 crashed onto the Butler Avionics Hangar at New Century AirCenter where first responders rescued the two passengers with minor injuries—investigators from the FAA and NTSB are examining the incident while the airport reopened at 2:20 p.m. KSHB
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On May 29, Jackson County Legislator Manny Abarca was charged with domestic battery in Johnson County after officers responded to a car exchange where his wife reportedly captured him throwing her to the ground — he was arrested on a $1,500 bond and now faces additional charges in Missouri after a protection order granted his wife custody of their child. FOX 4
- ➤ Overland Park Police released photos of two men who allegedly stole nine laptops from a nearby store on May 17 at 4:10 p.m.—residents are asked to call with tips. KCTV 5
