- ➤ Union and management at the Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City agreed on the value of GM's $4 billion investment, with UAW Local 31 ecstatic as the plant will produce the gas-powered 2027 Chevy Equinox and future EV models. GM said the plant will begin building the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV by the end of 2026—highlighting renewed strength in local manufacturing. KSHB
- ➤ Summer Salt Ice Cream Company is opening its new Overland Park location at Hawthorne Plaza this Saturday at 4932 W 119th St. next to André’s Chocolates & will serve daily from noon to 9 p.m. for the summer season. FOX 4 KC
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A theft at the QuikTrip near 95th Street spurred a police chase that ended in a standoff on northbound I-35 near 67th Street on Thursday night—two suspects were taken into custody as several lanes were closed. KMBC News
- ➤ Investigators told Jerry McConnell's family that the presumed remains of the 81-year-old missing from Overland Park were found June 11 on a rural property in Cowley County — more than a mile from the spot where her car was abandoned on May 20 near Ferguson Ranch Road. FOX 4 KC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The FBI Kansas City Field Office will be the base for a new regional Homeland Security Task Force that will target criminal groups including drug and weapons trafficking — covering Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. Partner offices in Wichita, Des Moines, and Omaha will aid the mission to keep local communities safe. KSHB

- ➤ Aaron Trost—president of Pickleball Planter—is in Ukraine to offer adaptive pickleball lessons for communities facing bombing alerts, and he will use his mission to bring the social and health benefits of the sport to those in need.
