ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday morning, a parking garage fire at the Aspiria campus on W 115th Street and Nall Avenue damaged two cars that were completely destroyed and at least five others—fire officials responded before 10:30 a.m. and are investigating the cause.  KSHB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bishop Miege High School placed president Phil Baniewicz on leave amid an investigation into school safety concerns and named Joe Schramp as interim president. The board said the decision aims to keep the school safe — the investigation is ongoing.  KCTV 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • KC-area cities announced they will fund a series of public events this summer—efforts designed to support community celebrations and neighborhood gatherings, officials said on June 6.  KCTV 5
  • Sen. Moran and Sen. Peters introduced the FORECAST Act on Friday in Kansas City to let National Weather Service workers keep key jobs by exempting them from federal hiring freezes—helping stations give weather warnings and check equipment. The bill also asks the Commerce Secretary for a report on staffing after one year.  FOX 4
