CRIME NEWS

  • The FBI requested public help to investigate a firebombing of a Tesla in the metro area that occurred overnight on June 5 — officials say it is the second such incident.  KCTV 5
  • Joseph Andrew Wacaster was sentenced to life in prison without parole (minimum 25-year term) after pleading guilty to first-degree premeditated murder on April 21 for killing 27-year-old Cade Blackburn, who was found dead on March 30, 2024 in Edgerton.  KMBC News
  • A 24-year-old woman was charged with first-degree murder and drug distribution offenses in connection with the Dec 24 death of Alexandrea Hunter and her unborn child in Roeland Park—she is held on a $1 million bond and will appear in court on June 12.  KMBC News

  • Little Lobbyists Kansas invites local families to share their Medicaid stories at a Town Hall on June 17 at 6 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 7740 Lackman Rd., where officials will discuss how proposed Medicaid cuts exceeding $700 billion over the next decade may hurt services for children with disabilities — updates from the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas will also be provided—.  KCTV 5

  • After their baby brother was diagnosed with a rare stage-4 brain cancer and treated at St. Jude, sisters Tatum and Cimone launched Gold Out sports events to support childhood cancer research—over twenty Kansas City area high schools have raised over $300,000 so far.  KCTV 5
