- ➤ Adaptive Splash will take place on select Saturdays this summer at Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center — June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28, and July 5 — from 9 to 11 a.m. The program gives swimmers with mobility challenges a safe two-hour session with lifeguards on duty and includes a free caretaker admission with every $8 ticket. - ➤ Pathlight Brewing in Shawnee announced its closure on June 4 and said it will hold a farewell party on the weekend of June 20 to mark its fifth anniversary. The brewery has hosted run clubs, music bingo and sports watch parties since 2020 — building community connection — before deciding to close its doors. FOX 4 KC

- ➤ Jackson County Legislator Manuel Abarca was charged Wednesday with one count of domestic battery linked to an incident last Thursday in Shawnee — he posted a $1500 bond, is set for a hearing today, and police confirmed that he and a two year old child are safe. KSHB
- ➤ Anthony Mansfield, 36, escaped from the Johnson County Department of Corrections Adult Residential Center at New Century in Olathe on May 28 and was apprehended Wednesday night by U.S. Marshals in Kansas City, Missouri without incident—he was serving an eight-month sentence following a conviction for criminal damage. - ➤ Jackson County Legislator Manny Abarca was charged with domestic battery in Johnson County for an incident on May 29 and was booked into jail shortly after 1:30 p.m.; Shawnee police confirmed his 2-year-old son is safe while he faces additional charges for allegedly violating a protection order with a court appearance scheduled for today in Johnson County and a hearing on July 10 in Jackson County.
