- ➤ Panasonic announced its $4 billion electric vehicle battery plant in De Soto will hold a grand opening celebration Monday, July 14 after crews broke ground in November 2022. The plant, chosen from more than 80 sites, is expected to create 4,000 jobs by the end of 2026 and mainly supply lithium-ion batteries for Tesla—local updates to roads, broadband, energy and wastewater systems are underway.
