  • Big Slick's celebrity fundraiser for Children's Mercy kicks off tonight in Kansas City as stars like Jason Sudeikis and Rob Riggle return to honor hometown ties, with a special visit to patients and ticket sales continuing online + the event has raised over $30 million since 2010.  KCTV 5

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Kansas City Zoo today unveiled its new giraffe habitat after a $22 million renovation. The updated exhibit offers enhanced viewing areas and natural features (designed for animal enrichment) that promise an improved visitor experience.  KCTV 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Overland Park officials finalized a World Cup consular center to help international visitors & provide streamlined services during the tournament. The center will offer expedited support with travel documentation and consular needs.  KCTV 5
  • The K-32 Kaw Bridge reopened to traffic after four years of construction, giving local drivers a safer route along the highway. Officials said the project was managed by local agencies to improve travel conditions.  KCTV 5

HEALTH NEWS

  • NKC Health and Blue KC signed an agreement that keeps NKC Health’s hospital and clinics in network for Blue KC members starting Monday, Jun. 1. Patients with rescheduled appointments are encouraged to reconnect with their providers.  KCTV 5
  • Today, Marlene's Kaleidoscope hosts "Roses, Rhythm (Hope)" brunch at J. Rieger located at 2700 Guinotte Ave. in Kansas City; tickets cost $100 and the event raises lupus awareness during Lupus Awareness Month, offering support to those affected.  KSHB

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Johnson County United Airport Drop and Ride will shuttle visitors from Kansas City International Airport to the Overland Park Convention Center plus Lenexa City Center every 30 minutes from June 1 through July 16 to support 2026 FIFA World Cup fans.  KSHB
  • Blue Valley West girls soccer was named Hy-Vee High School Team of the Week after finishing their season with a 14 to 4 record and a run to the state quarterfinals.  KCTV 5
