- ➤ Westlake Ace Hardware at 11200 Antioch Road in Overland Park and the Salvation Army are asking customers to round up their purchases at the register to support families in need—an effort that has provided over 65,000 fans in 13 years. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On May 29th just before 2:30 p.m., a house fire in a Merriam home burned the garage — later spreading to the attic and main living space, causing one person to be treated for minor smoke inhalation at a nearby hospital and leaving two adults without a home. KCTV 5
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities said a prisoner named Anthony Mansfield, 36, escaped from the Johnson County Adult Residential Center in New Century after he did not return on Wednesday—he is considered dangerous and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with black designs, a long black sleeve undershirt, brown boots, a brown baseball hat and stonewashed jeans. - ➤ Kansas City-area libraries have launched summer reading programs to help kids avoid a 20% loss in reading skills during the break. Olathe Public Library began its program on Tuesday and readers can earn free books and prizes, while other libraries offer similar rewards—keeping summer reading fun and preparing children for school.
