GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A county legislator called for a more targeted tornado siren system on April 24 amid debate over the current countywide approach. Officials will meet soon to review residents' concerns.  KCTV 5
  • The county board approved a new fare system for fixed-route buses starting June 1 (riders pay $2 per trip) with a second phase for paratransit fares set for late next year, aligning the county with regional transit systems.  KSHB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chiefs owner Clark Hunt is excited to create World Cup memories at Arrowhead Stadium this summer. The stadium will host six matches from June 16 to July 11 as renovations widen the pitch to meet FIFA standards, evoking treasured memories with his father.  KSHB
  • Girls flag football is set to become an official high school sport after KSHSAA approved the move with a 61-1 vote for the 2026-27 school year.
