- ➤ Adeline Clifford, a Shawnee Mission East junior, is organizing a food drive amid federal cuts as she placed nine drop-off boxes in Johnson County to collect over 1,000 lbs of nonperishable food for Harvesters — her drive will close tomorrow to help local families facing reduced aid. This effort comes as federal spending cuts have diminished support for food programs across the area. KSHB
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Animal control officers in Overland Park helped a young owl that had fallen from its nest after a resident reported it could not fly—officials encouraged the bird to perch nearby, and it now shelters in a bush with no further action needed. FOX 4
- ➤ Since 2015, Johnson County invested $1.7 million in energy-saving upgrades that saved over $3 million and support its climate goals. The county is retrofitting older buildings and will add green features like solar panels and reclaimed water systems in new projects such as the Health Services Building in Olathe. KSHB
