  • Overland Park will rededicate Maple Hills Park on April 21 from noon to 2 p.m. after the 9.2 acre park was redesigned for sustainability based on community feedback — it now features a solar powered shelter and restrooms, a relocated playground, two pickleball courts and a parking lot with solar EV charging stations.  KCTV 5

CRIME NEWS

  • A 23-year-old woman was shot on Thursday night in Olathe when police responded to an armed disturbance at the 1000 block of North Ridgeview Road and she was taken by ambulance to a hospital where she is expected to survive while a 19-year-old man was taken into custody and is being questioned.  KSHB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Auto sales increased by 5.3% in March, the largest rise since January 2023—Reuters said the jump may be due to consumers spending in a panic ahead of tariffs while Overland Park resident Amir Avazpour expressed concerns about his savings for a wedding and a house.  KSHB
