- ➤ Overland Park police responded just before 9 a.m. on Thursday to reports of a suspicious man in his late 20s near a wooded area at Shawnee Mission South High School—searching with patrol officers, police K9s and drone operators yielded no evidence—and school officials ended an hour-long lockdown while increasing security until dismissal. - ➤ Dr. Kory Kirkegaard of Overland Park is challenging the Dental Board's ban on his certified therapy dog Ivy from the office during patient hours after a meeting on April 11—he has retained an attorney and seeks to reinstate Ivy while noting that many dental offices allow therapy dogs.
