- ➤ Overland Park resident Chris Cindric won 1,909 pounds of Tillamook cheese in a contest honoring National Cheddar Day and the brand's founding—her prize was hand-delivered by boat on April 1. KMBC News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kansas lawmakers passed HB 2169 which means owners of the old Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant site in De Soto will not be forced to clean up old pesticides unless the land is used for homes. Sunflower Redevelopment LLC said the law clears the way for projects like a Panasonic facility and other industrial plans while the Army works on cleanup until 2028. KSHB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas in Overland Park announced a $152 million expansion project to improve access to care based on patient and family feedback — the plan will upgrade the ER and build new spaces with phases set to open in 2026, 2027 and 2029. KCTV 5
