- ➤ Overnight storms and a lightning crack sparked a house fire on Wednesday at a home on Pasadena Drive and Santa Barbara Boulevard in Olathe that damaged the structure and displaced its two residents — the Red Cross was called and fire officials investigated the cause. KMBC News

- ➤ The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office warned residents that a scam caller was posing as Deputy Lewis by leaving voicemail messages urging return calls about legal matters from phone number 660-242-5181—residents should hang up immediately and call the sheriff’s dispatch at 660-747-5511 to verify. - ➤ Cybercriminals have sent smishing texts claiming unpaid toll debts to drivers on the Kansas Turnpike, and Kansas cybersecurity advisor Winnie West from CISA warned today that the urgent message could steal credit card details—if drivers already clicked the link, they should contact their bank and reset passwords. - ➤ Tariffs on foreign-made cars and parts are expected to raise car prices today as dealerships in the region prepare for higher costs. Reynolds Automotive in Merriam said that future purchases will include an extra cost of about $1,000 to $1,500 per car — a change that may drive buyers toward used vehicles. KCTV 5

- ➤ Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico reported new measles cases this week while the outbreak spread to central Texas for the first time—Kansas recorded 24 cases in six southwest counties. Health officials advised getting the MMR vaccine to protect against measles as two unvaccinated people have died since February and hospitalizations continue across the outbreak. KSHB
