- ➤ Prairie Village designer Amy Barickman has teamed up with Colonial Patterns to launch Treasured Threadz—a collection of panels and patterns inspired by her vintage quilt collection. She began her career sewing teddy bears and now sells sewing courses and books while planning to release more products in June. KSHB
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Overland Park police are searching for two suspects who rammed a marked patrol car when fleeing a retail theft on March 16 near 97th Street and Quivira Road—last seen in a Dodge Journey traveling east on West 95th Street before turning south on U.S. 69. KMBC News
- ➤ A Kansas City man, Hoang Vu Le, 35, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary in Clay County on Friday when police tracked his Chevrolet Equinox to a break-in at a nail salon—he is suspected of a series of nonresidential burglaries in Overland Park and was previously on probation after a 2017 case. - ➤ Overland Park police are searching for two suspects accused of shoplifting from a Johnson County store on March 16 and ramming a patrol car with a Dodge Journey near 97th Street and Quivira Road, urging anyone with information to contact the TIPS Hotline. KCTV 5
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers in the Kansas Statehouse are discussing the 2026 budget and proposals may cut arts funding by removing support for programs like the Kansas Arts Commission, which awarded over $1 million last year. Local arts groups in Johnson County including Arts in Prison and the Arts Council of Johnson County warned that the cuts will hurt community art programs — state officials have yet to finalize a plan. - ➤ Justice Evelyn Wilson announced she will leave the Kansas Supreme Court due to a diagnosis of Lou Gehrig’s disease — her final day is set for July 4th — and the court will start a merit-based search for her replacement. FOX 4 KC
- ➤ On Monday morning, maintenance workers in Johnson County found a four-foot hole in the Gardner Bridge at 191st Street and Interstate 35 and placed a steel plate to keep traffic moving. KDOT said permanent repairs will begin soon. KCTV 5

- ➤ On Monday, a report said the Royals reached out to the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park about buying land for a new stadium they will plan after their lease at Kauffman Stadium ends in 2031. A spokesperson from the center said their CEO has no record of any discussions (while residents remain divided on the Aspiria campus location at 119th Street and Nall Avenue). KMBC News
