- ➤ Police have asked the community to report any information about a theft at a business near W. 97th and Metcalf on March 20, and while one suspect was taken into custody, officers continue to search for another — a white man about 5-foot-10 in a white shirt and black pants —. KCTV 5
- ➤ The Overland Park Police Department responded to a hit-and-run on West 119th Street and U.S. Highway 69 Thursday morning, arresting one suspect while still searching for a white man in a white T-shirt and khaki pants using police officers and drones—officials are asking the public to report any information. KMBC News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Museum, said that on Wednesday a Defense Department website removed Jackie Robinson’s story when its URL changed to include DEI—and that the page was restored later that day. He warned that if such changes persist, key lessons about Robinson’s role in breaking barriers may be lost. KCTV 5

- ➤ Parents, including long-time alumna Kelly Kincaid, continue to push for the removal of Bishop Miege High School administrator Phil Baniewicz after a parent reported that his personal questions made their daughter uncomfortable last spring—although the school board and archdiocese reviewed the complaint and took no further action, critics doubt the school is putting student safety first. - ➤ The Overland Park Police Department is running a cadet program to address its 21 officer vacancies by recruiting applicants aged 18 to 20 and providing hands-on training while covering tuition costs and paying $16 per hour for 20 weekly hours—cadets must maintain at least a C grade and will apply for officer positions when they turn 21, with applications for five program vacancies opening by the end of this year.
