EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kansas lawmakers moved the cell phone ban bill to Governor Kelly’s desk after votes in Senate and House; if approved, schools must store phones away by Sept. 1, 2026 (exceptions include medical and special education needs). Some educators worry over costs, while many parents support the change.  KMBC News
  • Kansas lawmakers passed legislation to ban student cell phone use during the school day, but parents argue that school districts should decide + Gov. Laura Kelly has 10 days to act on the measure.  KCTV 5

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Big 12 announced it will replace its slippery LED glass court with hardwood for the semifinals after players reported discomfort and one groin injury (notably by a Texas Tech guard). The change is set to take effect ahead of today’s first semifinal game at 6:00 p.m.  KCTV 5
