- ➤ On March 5, Shawnee Mission School District held its annual Women in Leadership breakfast where students met with mentors to discuss leadership and self-confidence ahead of International Women's Day. - ➤ Neighbors in Shawnee cleaned up after an overnight storm hit on Saturday, knocking out power and damaging trees. An EF-0 tornado touched down shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday and ended near Westport — no injuries were reported. KMBC News
