About this event
Mid-Continent Public Library has hosted its annual Veteran Salute event for over a decade, celebrating and supporting local military members and their families. This year’s Veteran Salute event will be held on Saturday, November 7, at its Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence (3440 S. Lee's Summit Road), and everyone is invited to attend!
Veteran Salute 2026 will open at 1:00 p.m. with a live musical performance by the American Legion Band, and throughout the day, there will be refreshments and free craft activities for kids as well as a resource fair with Veteran support organizations for current and former military members and their families.
At 2:00 p.m., there will be a panel discussion with Veterans’ Voices Writing Project, a local nonprofit that has published Veterans’ Voices magazine—featuring writing and artwork from Veterans across the country—since 1946.
